The ink and resin unit consists of 11 plants in the U.S., China, South Korea, the Netherlands, Belgium, Argentina and New Zealand. Its U.S. plants are in Georgia and Tennessee. It has 650 employees and generated revenue of $278 million and an operating profit of about $7 million last year. Momentive, a specialty chemical maker, is a $6 billion-a-year company. Harima posted revenue of about $397 million in the fiscal year ended March 31.
Brad Crock, general manager of the Momentive unit, said in a statement that the sale to Harima will “create one of the world’s largest pine chemical companies, giving improved access to key raw materials, an enhanced operational footprint and a broader technology base to maximize customer value.
